Tirthahalli: With the intensification of monsoon showers under the Mrigashira Nakshatra, several rain-related incidents are being reported across Tirthahalli taluk. One such incident occurred in Moodlu village under the Thooduru Gram Panchayat limits, where a landslide uprooted over 30 areca nut trees.
According to sources, water from a nearby stream was flowing behind the plantation of Manjunath Shetty. Due to the force of the stream, the land gave way, causing a significant landslide and toppling more than 30 areca trees.
Manjunath Shetty, the plantation owner, said, “This has been a recurring issue every monsoon season, but no authorities have paid attention so far. This year, the damage is even worse.”
Following the incident, the Gram Panchayat president visited the site and conducted an inspection. Locals have urged authorities to take preventive measures to avoid further damage during the ongoing rainy season.
