In what comes as a positive development for the Indian men’s team, head coach Gautam Gambhir is set to rejoin the team in England on Tuesday (June 17). The 43-year-old had flown to India on June 12 following a family emergency. His mother had to be hospitalised following a cardiac arrest and had been kept in the ICU at that point, forcing Gambhir to fly home from England temporarily.

According to the latest reports from RevSportz Global, Gambhir’s mother has been recovering positively. After careful consultations with the medical staff, Gambhir has decided to return to England.

The Indian team is expected to travel from London to Leeds on Tuesday, with the team expected to reach the city by evening. With it being a travel day, there will be no practice sessions on Tuesday for the team.

However, the next two days, leading up to the first Test against England on June 20, will be dedicated to extensive net sessions.

Shubman Gill’s side had an intra-squad practice game from June 13 to 15, as India battled India A in Beckenham.

The visiting side opted for this style of practice instead of facing an English side to boost their preparation levels. Monday (June 16) is a day off for the side as they recharge their batteries with a gruelling week ahead.

After the five-match Test series takes off in Leeds, the caravan will move to Birmingham, Lord’s, and Manchester before culminating at The Oval.
