Producer Pahlaj Nihalani, a longtime collaborator of Govinda, has addressed swirling rumours around the actor’s personal life, especially his rumoured split with wife Sunita Ahuja. Though the two men have had their differences in recent years, Nihalani didn't hesitate to defend the couple amid ongoing speculation about their marriage and Govinda’s rumoured relationships.
While reports suggested that Govinda and Sunita had formally filed for divorce in 2024, the couple never followed through with it, and recent interactions hint that they’ve since reconciled. Sunita had also denied any rift in their marriage in recent podcasts.
'Nobody Can Come Between Govinda and Sunita'
Dismissing chatter about Govinda being romantically involved with a Marathi actress, Nihalani told Indian Express, “Listen, nobody can get in between Sunita and Govinda’s eternal love. Sunita speaks her mind, and Govinda never strays. Their marriage will survive even if he has 10 affairs.”
He also spoke about the couple’s unconventional living arrangement. “Plus, they’ve always lived separately. He always used to have his meetings in the other bungalow, because he sleeps late. She’s always with him otherwise. He doesn’t have a single film right now, but he does shows daily, and she handles his business matters," Nahlani said.
Interestingly, Sunita had earlier claimed that she had stepped back from managing his career, though Nihalani suggests otherwise.
Although Nihalani admits he hasn’t been in regular touch with the actor or Sunita, he did visit Govinda following a recent mishap.
“They are the best of friends,” he said, referring to the couple's dynamic.
Sunita on their living arrangement
In one of her interviews, Sunita Ahuja spoke candidly about their living setup, noting that they stay in separate residences within the same compound. “We have two houses, we have a bungalow opposite our apartment. I have my temple and my kids in the flat. We live in the flat whereas he gets late after his meetings. He loves talking so he’ll gather 10 people and sit chatting with them. Whereas me, my son and my daughter live together, but we hardly talk because I feel if you end up wasting your energy by talking too much,” she shared.
