In the late 90s a high-octane action drama hit the silver screen leaving audiences breathless not just because of its storyline but due to one heart-stopping stunt sequence that nearly changed Bollywood forever. The film released in 1998 starred a leading man known for his rugged charm and fearless performances. During one of the film’s most intense scenes the actor insisted on performing a risky stunt himself without a body double. The scene has since become part of Bollywood’s behind-the-scenes lore a reminder of how close danger often lurks behind fame. 1998 Action Thriller Film Here we are talking about Ghulam which has completed its glorious 27 years. Helmed by veteran director Vikram Bhatt Ghulam featured Aamir Khan Rani Mukerji Sharat Saxena and Deepak Tijori in the lead roles. Aamir Khan delivered an exceptional performance as Siddharth Siddhu Marathe. The film which was released on June 19 1998 captured attention for its engaging songs and action scenes especially a train sequence that left everyone thrilled. In a standout moment Aamir runs along a railway track toward an oncoming train creating a gripping atmosphere for the audience. He dramatically leaps to safety just a few feet away from the train with only 1.3 seconds separating him from danger. Remarkably Aamir performed this stunt himself earning a special place in cinematic history. Later this scene won the Best Action Scene award at the 44th Filmfare Awards. Audiences and critics praised Aamirs bravery.  When Aamir Khan Described His Near-Death Experience Years later Aamir described the risk he took as stupid. In an interview he stated It was an unnecessary risk. I was lucky that everything went well but repeating it would have been wrong. He further elaborated that the scene was filmed from three different angles. “Two of those angles were created using special effects. However the frontal angle was shot with the actual train.  At the time I didnt realize the danger but when I later watched it in the editing room I got scared” he recalled. Aamir mentioned that when they reviewed the timing during editing they discovered that the train had missed him by just 1.3 seconds. He added that he performed three takes of that scene. The film which had a budget of approximately Rs 7 crore and went on to collect Rs 24 crore at the box office.
