Uttarakhand Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced favorable conditions for the Southwest Monsoon's progression into parts of Uttarakhand over the next few days. This shift is anticipated to result in widespread rainfall throughout the upcoming week. The Kumaon and Garhwal regions are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning in the hilly areas.
Weather Forecast for Thursday, June 19
As per the latest predictions from the Meteorological Centre in Dehradun, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are likely across most districts in the Kumaon region on Thursday, June 19. Similar weather conditions are also expected in many areas of the Garhwal region today.
The Meteorological Centre has issued warnings for heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Bageshwar and Nainital districts. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 km/h) are anticipated in various districts throughout Uttarakhand.
Regarding temperature trends, conditions have remained relatively stable. The IMD reports that maximum temperatures in the plains are normal, while those in the hills are normal to slightly below average. The highest temperature recorded was 34.7°C in Mohkampur (Dehradun), and the lowest was 13.8°C in Mukteshwar (Nainital) on Wednesday, June 18.
Maximum temperatures are expected to stay near normal for the next couple of days before decreasing.
Forecast for the Next Five Days
June 20: Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are likely in Uttarkashi, Dehradun, and Udham Singh Nagar districts, with many other areas in Uttarakhand also experiencing similar weather. A yellow alert for intense rainfall has been issued for Dehradun and Nainital.
June 21: Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected in Haridwar and across many districts of Uttarakhand. An orange alert for rainfall has been issued for Bageshwar, Champawat, and Nainital, with heavy rainfall anticipated in Pithoragarh.
June 22: Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are likely across most districts in Uttarakhand. An orange alert for rainfall has been issued for Dehradun, Pauri, Champawat, Bageshwar, and Nainital, while a yellow alert is in place for Chamoli, Pithoragarh, and Udham Singh Nagar.
June 23: Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected in many areas across all districts of Uttarakhand.
June 24: Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are predicted over numerous locations in all districts of Uttarakhand.

Residents and visitors in susceptible areas, especially in the hills, are urged to remain vigilant and adhere to weather advisories. The onset of heavy rains can significantly increase the risk of landslides and flash floods in these regions.
