Sitaare Zameen Par box office prediction: Aamir Khan is returning to the big screen after a long hiatus with 'Sitaare Zameen Par', a film that’s already creating ripples in industry circles ahead of its theatrical release on June 20. Pegged as a spiritual successor to his critically-acclaimed 2007 drama 'Taare Zameen Par', the upcoming film is expected to find favour with audiences—provided the early response is strong.

Sitaare Zameen Par relies on word of mouth

While the pre-release promotions have been relatively muted, industry experts believe Aamir’s brand value may still drive footfalls in the initial weekend. In a conversation with India Today, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted, “The box office run (of Aamir Khan) currently depends on word-of-mouth. Since the promotion for the film is very light, now the film’s success depends only on Aamir Khan’s face-value. For the opening weekend, it could be around Rs 30 crore.”

He added, “Since it’s a sequel to Taare Zameen Par, and the 2007 film did really well in its time, I hope Sitaare Zameen Par works well for Aamir. While the film’s numbers won’t go beyond Taare Zameen Par, it should at least touch a success limit unlike his recent movies.”

Aamir Khan says no to OTT

Aamir has reportedly taken an unconventional route when it comes to the film’s distribution. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the actor declined a massive Rs 120 crore OTT deal from Amazon Prime Video, firmly committing to a full theatrical window before considering any digital release.

Additionally, Aamir has made specific requests to theatre owners, including a delay in morning show timings. He has asked exhibitors not to schedule any screenings before 9 am and also advised them to maintain regular weekend ticket pricing instead of resorting to blockbuster pricing models.
