Mortal Remains of Cabin Crew Member Arrive in Dimapur
Kangpokpi/Imphal, June 19: Family members received the remains of Lamnunthem Singson, an Air India cabin crew member who tragically lost her life in the plane crash in Ahmedabad, at Dimapur airport on Thursday.
Singson's body was transported from Ahmedabad to Nagaland's airport via an Indigo flight, as confirmed by officials.
Members of the Kuki Student Organisation Sadar Hills were present to pay their respects at the airport. The 26-year-old was a member of the Kuki community.
In the early hours, family and community leaders departed from Kangpokpi in approximately ten vehicles to honor the return of her remains, as shared by a cousin.
Singson was one of the 241 passengers aboard Air India Flight AI 171, which tragically crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on June 12.
Originally from Old Lambulane colony in Imphal, her family relocated to Kangpokpi district due to ethnic tensions between the Meitei and Kuki communities in 2023.
Another cabin crew member from Manipur, Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi Sharma, also perished in the same incident, with her remains still pending return from Ahmedabad.
