Senior Pakistani TV actress Ayesha Khan has passed away. Her body was discovered in her flat located in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi.

According to police, the actress had been living alone, and her body is believed to be about a week old. The discovery was made after a strong odor started spreading in the building, prompting neighbors to inform her relatives.

Her body was first shifted to Jinnah Hospital and later moved to the Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth. Police have stated that a post-mortem examination will be conducted based on the request of her family.

Ayesha Khan was the elder sister of renowned late actress Khalida Riyasat. Her close friend, Tehmina Khalid, confirmed that Ayesha Khan passed away in Karachi five days ago.

The tragic news has saddened fans and colleagues from the entertainment industry, as the actress was known for her significant contributions to Pakistani television.

One of her most memorable roles was in Afshan, in which she played a grieved woman whose husband and brother has to flee the country during the Partition due to safety reasons. She raises her child and her brother’s daughter Afshan as she waits for her husband’s return.

Known for her mastery of dialogue delivery and nuanced facial expressions, the veteran actress was ill for some time and had stopped acting for some years. Commenting on her demise, Arts Council of Pakistan President Ahmed Shah said she acted for more than 50 years and her death was a great loss for the drama scene of the country.
