Millions of pounds in National Lottery and EuroMillions prizes remain unclaimed across the UK, including five £1 million windfalls, as officials urge players to check their tickets before it's too late. A map highlighting the unclaimed prizes reveals that winning tickets were bought in Liverpool, Wiltshire, Stevenage, Birmingham and St Albans.

Each is linked to either a Lotto or EuroMillions draw and carries a jackpot of £1 million. In Barnet, a further EuroMillions ticket worth £100,000 has also yet to be claimed. Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize. After that, the money is transferred to National Lottery-funded community projects around the UK.

With deadlines approaching, officials are urging players to retrace their steps and thoroughly check old entries, whether bought in person or online.

Lost or forgotten tickets are a common reason for unclaimed prizes, often turning up months later in drawers, glove compartments, or coat pockets.

"Every year, we see millions go unclaimed," a National Lottery spokesperson said.

"It's heartbreaking to think that life-changing prizes like these could go unnoticed. If you bought a ticket in or around these areas, now is the time to check."

For smaller prizes under £500, winners can claim their money directly at most retailers. For prizes up to £50,000, winners are asked to either claim online or contact the National Lottery on 0333 234 50 50.

Damaged or partially lost tickets must be reported within 30 days of the draw date for an appeal to be considered.

The National Lottery also offers advice for players hoping to boost their chances in future draws.

Syndicates where players pool their money to buy more tickets can improve the odds of winning.

However, prizes must be split among group members. Some players also keep records of the frequency of their chosen numbers and adapt based on performance.

The official app can help track ticket entries and provide automatic notifications for winning numbers, a key tool to avoid missing out.

With time ticking, anyone who entered recent draws in the areas listed is being urged to act fast. One million pounds could be waiting, if only someone steps forward to claim it.
