Heavy rain in north and east India Weather today

According to IMD, a period of heavy rainfall is about to start in North India. There is a possibility of heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir from 21 to 26 June. Very heavy rains may occur especially in eastern Uttar Pradesh on 21-22 June.

There is a warning of thunderstorm with strong winds of 40-50 km/hr in Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh. There is also a danger of lightning in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. People have been advised to take precautions.

Effect of monsoon on central and eastern states

Heavy rainfall alert has also been issued in central and eastern India. Bihar will receive heavy rainfall from 21 to 24 June, with very heavy rainfall expected on 22-23 June.

Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal will receive rain from June 21 to 26. The eastern and western parts of Madhya Pradesh may receive extremely heavy rain (more than 20 cm) on June 23. There is also a risk of lightning and strong winds in these areas.

The weather will also be bad in coastal states. Strong winds of 40-60 km/h can blow in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. Wind speed can reach 65 km/h in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. Fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea.
