Raigad Royals outclassed Kolhapur Tuskers by six wickets in the Eliminator clash of the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) 2025 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. While Raigad’s win earned them a spot with Puneri Bappa in Qualifier 2, it was Vicky Ostwal’s solid knock of 74 off 54 balls that played a big role in the win. However, Ostwal's unbelievable run-out survival after a mid-pitch collision grabbed significant attention.
Royals chasing 165, were in a good position with Ostwal holding one end. However, his match-winning innings nearly came to an abrupt stop due to a moment of miscommunication. While attempting a second run after hitting the ball through the offside, Ostwal collided heavily with his partner mid-pitch, with both players falling to the ground.

However, a straightforward run-out opportunity with Ostwal stranded well outside his crease was missed after a comedy of errors by the Kolhapur Tuskers fielders. The throw came to the wicketkeeper, who, rather than running out the player at the batting end, tossed it back to the bowler Atman Pore instead of attempting to break the stumps himself.
Pore fumbled the ball, and before he could gather and react, Ostwal was back on his feet and returned to the crease. A second throw was then attempted at the striker’s end by Rahul Tripathi, but it missed the stumps by a fair margin.
Vicky Ostwal was awarded Player of the matchOstwal capitalised on the lifeline and carried on to play a match-winning innings. His 74 included five fours and a six. Earlier in the evening, Kolhapur Tuskers had posted 164/7 in their 20 overs, with Ankit Bawne top-scoring with 57 off 50 balls. For Raigad, Nikhil Kadam (3/35) and Tanay Sanghvi (2/32) wreaked havoc with the ball, while Ostwal chipped in with a wicket as well. In reply, apart from Ostwal’s performance, contributions from Siddhesh Veer (39 off 24) and Niraj Joshi (37* off 22) ensured the Royals reached the target.
