Yoga as a Cultural Pillar

On Saturday, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the significance of yoga as an integral part of Indian culture and tradition, stating that it revitalizes both body and soul, serving as a key to a joyful life.

Speaking at a 'Bhakti Yoga' event in Pune, Fadnavis noted that yoga has gained global acceptance. He recalled how Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the celebration of International Yoga Day at the United Nations, marking its 11th year of global observance.

Celebrating Yoga with Devotion

Fadnavis mentioned that devotees of Lord Vitthal, who arrive in Pune with the annual palkhi of saints Tukaram Maharaj and Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, are also practicing yoga at their camps. He added that around 700 students participated in yoga sessions at their respective institutions during this occasion.

Commitment to Agricultural Loan Waivers

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state government's commitment to implementing agricultural loan waivers in a timely manner, emphasizing that they will not backtrack on their promises. He elaborated on the rules and processes involved in the loan waiver scheme.

Promoting Yoga Among Youth

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, at an event in Mumbai, stressed the importance of instilling yoga practices in children and youth to help them lead stress-free lives. After the 'Yoga by the Bay' event at Marine Drive, he remarked that yoga is a part of India's ancient culture, celebrated globally on June 21 due to Prime Minister Modi's initiatives.

Shinde announced that the theme for the 11th International Yoga Day is 'Yoga for One World, One Health.' He encouraged children to adopt yoga as a habit to avoid falling into the traps of addiction or bad habits, suggesting that they should be 'addicted' to yoga instead.

He also reflected on the significant political changes that occurred three years ago on the same day when he rebelled against then Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, leading to the fall of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. Shinde noted that he practiced yoga on that day as well, attributing the current development in the state to the support of Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah.

Integrating Yoga into Daily Life

Shinde concluded by urging everyone to make yoga a part of their daily lives rather than limiting its practice to just one day.
