The first Test match of the series between India and England is currently underway at Headingley, Leeds. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Zak Crawley, who scored just 4 runs.

India posted 471, thanks to brilliant centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal (101), Shubman Gill (147), and Rishabh Pant (134).

Ishwar Pandey, a former Indian cricketer and current coach of the Rewa Jaguars, is confident that right-arm fast bowler Bumrah will participate in all five Test matches in the ongoing series against England.

When India’s Test squad was announced, chief selector Ajit Agarkar emphasised that Bumrah’s workload would be closely monitored, and he would avoid playing in back-to-back matches. This decision is a precaution following a stress- injury to his back, which he sustained during the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney earlier this year.

Speaking about Bumrah, Ishwar Pandey said, “He has mentioned it himself. However, it depends on how his body responds during the matches. There are five Tests, which means a heavier workload. Still, I believe he will participate in all of them. That’s what he has said, and I think he will play every Test.”

During England’s tour of India last year, Bumrah made a significant impact. He bowled 104 overs but still managed to claim 19 wickets.

Bumrah has taken 37 wickets across nine Tests at an average of 26.27 in England.
