Albert Grønbæk (24) is nearing a move from Stade Rennais to Genoa, according to a report from Market football.
Grønbæk arrived from Bodo/Glimt only last summer. However, the Danish midfielder was one of many transfers that did not work out for Rennes last season. As a result, he was shipped out on loan to Southampton mid-season and whilst he did feature for the Saints, he was far from prominent, playing just four games in the Premier League, starting just twice. He also made a short cameo in the FA Cup, but it was far from sufficient to make the move permanent, especially after Southampton were relegated back to the EFL Championship.
It would seem that Grønbæk does not have a future at Rennes either. As per MARKET Foot, an agreement in principle has been reached between the Ligue 1 side and Genoa. It will be a loan move with a purchase option worth €10.5m. There are a few details to sort out before a medical at some point at the start of next week.
