There's an "incredible" World War 2 film streaming free on BBC iPlayer, and fans have called it a "hidden gem". Starring 30 Rock icon Chloe Grace Moretz, the film centres around pilot officer Maude Garrett, who embarks on a top secret mission at the height of the Allied battles with the Japanese during the war.

But things quickly evolve into more as Maude comes to realise that the real threat isn't the enemy. An evil presence soon makes itself known on the battlefield as Maude struggles to integrate with her new crew. Released in 2020, that film is Shadow in the Cloud. It stars Nick Robinson, Taylor John Smith and Callan Mulvey alongside Grace Moretz, and despite a relatively low IMDb rating, it's been hailed "brilliant" by viewers.

One reviewer said: "This was an incredible movie that does homage to women, the military, and mothers willing to do whatever necessary to protect their child."

Another echoed: "I love Chloe Grace Moretz. Her acting is always great and she is fearless in her commitment to the material. The first half which is basically her alone in the turret was actually quite engrossing and the one very tense action scene was well done."

A third penned: "Great watch, would watch again, and do recommend. Sometimes it is a really great thing to go into a movie with extremely low expectations, and I certainly went into this thinking it's going to be boring. It's a WW2 courier movie, but it really is so much more.

"It honestly feels like this is a collection of stories that are all stitched together in a fantastic way."

The film grossed around $900,000 at the box office and currently has a 77% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
