Canada cruised into the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 after securing a commanding seven-wicket win over the Bahamas in the Americas Qualifier at King City. The hosts, playing at the Maple Leaf North-West Ground, sealed their fifth consecutive victory in the regional event, confirming their passage to the global tournament co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

Opting to bowl first, Canada wasted no time dismantling the Bahamas batting order. The visitors were bundled out for a mere 57 runs in 19.5 overs. Left-arm pacer Kaleem Sana returned figures of 3 for 6, while leg-spinner Shivam Sharma picked up 3 for 16. Their disciplined spells kept the Bahamian side under constant pressure, allowing no partnerships of note to develop.

The chase turned out to be a one-sided affair. Canadian opener Dilpreet Bajwa bludgeoned an unbeaten 36 off 14 deliveries, guiding the team to victory in just 5.3 overs. With that, Canada wrapped up the fixture and their spot in the World Cup — an achievement built on a flawless qualifying campaign.

Led by Nicholas Kirton, Canada opened their campaign with a thumping 110-run win over Bermuda. They followed it up with a 59-run triumph over Cayman Islands before registering a 10-wicket victory against the Bahamas in their first clash. A rain-curtailed second fixture versus Cayman Islands also went their way, this time by 42 runs under the DLS method.

Their unbroken winning run reflected a balanced squad and strategic clarity. With the Bahamas dispatched again in their final match, Canada became the 14th side to confirm participation in the 20-team 2026 World Cup.

Other qualified teams include hosts India and Sri Lanka, along with England, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Ireland, West Indies, the United States, and defending champions England.

According to the ICC, seven remaining spots will be decided through regional events next year, covering Europe, Africa, and Asia-Pacific regions.
