UPS
Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) has been implemented from 1 April 2025. Its purpose is to provide better retirement benefits to central employees, including provisions like gratuity and family pension. If you are in service till 1 April 2025 and enrolled under NPS, this scheme is for you.
Under UPS, if you have completed at least 25 years of service, you will get 50% of the average basic salary of 12 months before retirement. Not only this, if your service is more than 10 years, then you will be guaranteed a monthly pension of at least Rs 10,000. This ensures that your life remains financially stable after retirement.
Family protection
Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) is a strong shield not only for employees, but also for their family. If the employee dies after retirement, his spouse will get 60% of the final pension as a family pension. This provision helps in protecting the family from economic crisis, especially when the earner is not together. This plan protects not only you, but also the future of your loved ones.
How to join UPS?
It is very easy to join the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS). You can apply online by entering the e-NPS portal by entering your Permanent Retirement Account Number (Pran) and other necessary information. If you like offline methods, submit Form A2 in your nodal office. But keep in mind, this opportunity will not be available after 30 June 2025, so make decisions in time.
