Another big step has been taken towards the internet revolution in India. Alan Musk’s company Spacex has received final approval to start Starlink Satellite Internet service in India. This service is considered revolutionary about internet connectivity, especially in rural and remote areas. But while people expect high-speed internet on the one hand, on the other hand there is a stir in the minds of the users regarding its prices.
The price of Starlink service is going to remain in India as its neighboring countries are in Bangladesh and Bhutan. According to existing reports, customers will have to spend around Rs 33,000 to buy Starlink device. This amount will only be for hardware i.e. dish and router. Apart from this, the monthly plan of unlimited data can start from Rs 3,000 per month.
Will get free trial
Another good news with Starlink’s launch in India is that new users will also get a free trial of one month first. This means that consumers will be able to experience this service for one month without any payment. Regular charge will have to be paid after the trial period.
A ray of hope for rural India
While companies like Jio, Airtel and BSNL are giving cheap internet packs in urban areas, hundreds of villages in India are still away from internet connectivity. Starlink for such areas will not be less than a boon. Because it gives internet through satellite, it can easily reach mountains, forests and border areas.
Cheap internet is far away
Indian users hoped that Starlink would provide cheap services like local telecom companies here. But satellite based internet technology is still very expensive. Prices are unlikely to decrease due to hardware costs and maintenance.
When will the service start?
Starlink’s service can start within one to two months of spectrum allocation in India. The company has promised to deliver internet in rural India, and Alan Musk himself is seeing it as a mission.
