Fans were recently left confused and concerned after Aamir Khan’s appearance on a podcast, where a statement he made led many to believe that he planned to retire from acting after completing his dream project, Mahabharata.
The speculation quickly spread online, sparking debates about the actor’s future in the industry.
Aamir Khan Clarifies On Retirement Rumours
During a segment on Zoom’s Fan Club, Aamir addressed the rumours directly. He stated, “Mahabharata is not going to be my last film.” The actor explained that his comments had been taken out of context.
“Whenever I say something, people tend to misinterpret it. I was asked which film I would choose if I had to do one final movie before retiring. I said that the Mahabharata is powerful enough that I might feel fulfilled after doing it. But I never said it would be my last.”
Importance of Context: Aamir Emphasizes “If”
Aamir stressed that the word “if” was central to the question he was asked. He elaborated, “Material-wise, Mahabharata has the depth and impact that could make an artist feel complete. I answered in that context. But people assumed I was announcing my retirement. One must listen to the answer carefully.”
Speaking on Raj Shamani’s podcast earlier, Aamir described Mahabharata as a grand and emotional project. “It has layers, emotions, and a massive scale. Everything you see in the world is reflected in the Mahabharata,” he said. He added, “I hope I die with my shoes on. But if there’s one film that could make me feel I’ve done enough, it’s this.”
Upcoming Film: Sitaare Zameen Par Set for June release
Before starting work on Mahabharata, Aamir is focused on his upcoming release, Sitaare Zameen Par. Directed by RS Prasanna and co-starring Genelia Deshmukh, the film is slated to hit theatres on June 20. The actor was also advised to choose an action film initially, but he opted for this emotional drama instead.
