Indian Railway: Railway officials say that the new system is being implemented, especially keeping in mind those people who arbitrarily park their vehicles in the ‘drop and go’ zone.

New Railway Station Rules: If you also go to drop off your family or friends at New Delhi Railway Station, then this news is for you. Northern Railway has decided to implement a new rule for passengers coming to New Delhi Station from Ajmeri Gate. Under the new rule, a hefty amount will have to be paid for parking the vehicle at the station after the stipulated time. This rule will come into effect from June 25.

According to a TOI report, Northern Railway officials have said that this step has been taken to reduce the problem of congestion and traffic jams in the station premises. Many people stay there for a long time on the pretext of dropping off their relatives, which leads to a situation of heavy traffic jams. Especially long queues of vehicles are parked towards Ajmeri Gate.

What is the new rule?

From now on, if a vehicle enters the station, no fee will be charged for the first 8 minutes. But after 8 minutes, a charge of Rs 50 will be levied, and if the vehicle stops for more than 15 minutes, Rs 200 will have to be paid directly. Passengers can pay it either through FASTag or they will get a token on the entry of the vehicle, which will have to be deposited at the kiosk installed with the boom barrier at the exit.

The railways have given the contract to a private company for this, from which the railways will get a license fee of Rs 14.5 crore annually. This company will run the entire system. Apart from this, marshals will also be deployed there to handle the traffic.

Passengers face a lot of trouble in entering

Railway officials say that the new system is being implemented, especially keeping in mind those people who park their vehicles arbitrarily in the ‘drop and go’ zone. This causes traffic jams, and passengers face a lot of trouble in entering the station. Especially in the morning and ev, evening when many trains run one after the other, the situation worsens.

Many times, due to heavy traffic, people have to get off the vehicle 600 to 700 meters before the station, and they have to walk with heavy luggage. Cab and auto drivers also sometimes refuse to go to Ajmeri Gate and Paharganj Gate due to this reason.
