Congress Calls for Stronger Stance on International Issues

On Monday, the Congress party expressed concerns regarding the Indian government's lack of condemnation towards the recent U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear sites and the ongoing violence in Gaza, which they described as a 'massacre.'

Jairam Ramesh, the party's general secretary, emphasized that the government should exhibit greater moral courage than before. He also advocated for diplomatic discussions with Iran.

The U.S. military launched strikes early Sunday on three uranium enrichment facilities in Iran, namely Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Military conflicts between Iran and Israel have been escalating for the past ten days.

Ramesh took to social media platform 'X' to criticize President Donald Trump's decision to use U.S. airpower against Iran, calling it a mockery of his own calls for continued dialogue with the nation. He reiterated the Congress party's stance on the urgent need for diplomacy with Iran.

The Congress leader insisted that the Indian government must demonstrate more moral courage than it has in the past. He claimed that the Modi administration has failed to criticize or condemn the U.S. bombings and Israeli aggression, including targeted killings, and has remained silent on the atrocities faced by Palestinians in Gaza.
