The latest report of Cyble Research and Intelligence Labs (Cril) has revealed that more than 20 fake and dangerous apps are available on the Google Play Store, which are stealing the sensitive recovery data of users.

Through these apps, hackers are making users a victim of fishing attack. These apps look like real wallet apps in appearance, but the purpose behind them is to empty the crypto wallet by stealing the data of users. The report claimed that it is part of an active fishing scam which is targeting many Defi users globally.

According to CRIL report, these apps are targeting popular defi wallets like Sushiswap, Pancakeswap, Hyperlique and RayDium. As soon as the user installs these apps, these apps ask for a wallet recovery fresh with 12-Word. If the user shares this information, then the hackers can use it and empty the wallet completely.

Charged accounts misused

The most dangerous thing is that these apps have been published on Google Play Store from developers account, which have already been associated with popular gaming or video tools. Hackers are misusing these old and reliable accounts, so that users do not have any doubt. Along with this, these apps look exactly like real crypto wallets and their user interface has also been completely copied.

Names of these dangerous apps

The list of these fake and dangerous apps includes:- Suiet Wallet, Bullx Crypto, Sushiswap, Raydium, Hyperlique, OpenOcean Exchange, Pancake Swap, Meteorra Exchange and Harvest Finance Finance Blog.
There is a serious threat to the privacy of users in all these apps.

What should users do?

  • If you have any of these apps in your phone, then delete it immediately.

  • Never put a 12-word recovery frame in unofficial or unknown apps.

  • Please turn on two-factor authentication (2fa) in your wallets.

  • Check the activity of your crypto wallet at regular interval.

Cril warned that these apps are completely part of a fishing scam and their purpose is to steal the personal information of users only. Users need to be very cautious.
