Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor’s former husband Sunjay Kapur passed away unexpectedly while playing polo in London which left many in shock. He was 53 years old. Following his separation from Karisma Sunjay married Priya Sachdev a socialite and model from Delhi. Recently an old interview with Priya has resurfaced in which she talked about Sunjay and the difficult decisions he had to make following his fathers passing and his divorce from Karisma. Priya Sachdev On Husband Sunjay Kapur Reflecting on their relationship she mentioned on the YouTube channel Kin and Kindness “When we got together in 2015 he lost his father and suddenly a lot of responsibilities fell on his shoulders leaving him alone with a business that was based in Germany at the time.” Priya explained that Sunjay would talk about his business with her and often share ideas so she is “very much in the know.” She added “I do assist him in managing the family office and have made several investment decisions alongside him.” Priya elaborated on Sunjay’s path and how he dealt with the pressure of taking over the family business after his father’s death – Surinder Kapur who was a pioneer in Indias auto components sector. She stated “Sunjay’s journey has been fascinating as he became a father himself then lost his own father took charge of the business and was going through a divorce simultaneously. He has faced so much and we went through it together and now we have emerged from it.” When Priya Sachdev Called Sunjay Kapur ‘Misunderstood’ When discussing what drew her to Sunjay she remarked “I found him very endearing honest and often misunderstood.” She continued “He has been misunderstood but now he is highly regarded in the industry. His father was a legend in his field and he is now stepping into his shoes which makes all of us very proud. He has also had to make tough decisions and choices and the majority of them have turned out positively.” For the unversed Sunjay Kapurs memorial took place a week later of his death on June 19 2025 at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground in New Delhi. The service was attended by his former spouse Karisma Kapoor along with their children Kiaan and Samaira as well as actors Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. In a touching moment Kiaan was observed in tears while Karisma attempted to comfort him which was profoundly moving. Sunjay’s ex-wife Priya Sachdev was also in attendance and appeared completely heartbroken.
