Digital Attendance System for Lok Sabha
Mumbai: Members of the Lok Sabha will soon have the ability to record their attendance directly from their designated seats, as announced by Speaker Om Birla on Monday.
Birla explained that this new system will utilize tablet computers installed at each member's seat, allowing them to access parliamentary documents and the day's agenda.
Currently, MPs are required to sign attendance on physical registers located in the lobbies of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
In an effort to modernize the process, Birla had previously introduced a digital pen option for attendance marking on electronic tablets, promoting a paperless Parliament.
It is essential for members to register their attendance in order to receive their daily allowances during parliamentary sessions.
