In good news for Punekars, especially those living in the central part of the city, the long-awaited underground four-lane road project from Shaniwar Wada to Swargate has taken a major step forward.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on Monday visited the proposed starting point near Shaniwar Wada and reviewed the project's details. He assured full cooperation from the Central Government to make the project a reality, informed Kasba MLA Hemant Rasane.
Maharashtra's Higher and Technical Education Minister, Chandrakant Patil, was also present during the visit.
The proposed underground road is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion, protect the city's environment, and preserve historical heritage sites. The project holds special importance for the Kasba constituency and is being pushed forward with support from both the state and central governments.
According to officials, the final project report is being prepared by the Public Works Department and will be completed in the next fifteen days, as per the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
