India Expresses 'Deep Concerns' Over US Strikes On Iran Nuclear Sites At IAEA Board Meeting

United Nations nuclear watchdog, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) convened its emergency Board of Governors meeting today after the United States bombed the Iranian nuclear facilities. During the session, Indian Ambassador Shabhu Kumara presented India’s official position on the unfolding crisis. India conveyed deep concern over the escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly the attacks on nuclear sites in Iran. Highlighting the importance of nuclear safety and security, India emphasised the potential risks such actions pose to public health and the environment.India also urged the IAEA to keep the board updated on the extent of damage to nuclear facilities and report on the radiation levels. India called on all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint so that the safety and security of nuclear facilities are not adversely impacted.Kumara also expressed India's readiness to extend all possible support.
