Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has once again shown why he remains one of the most respected voices in Bollywood—not just for his iconic screen presence but also for the way he handles criticism with grace. The 82-year-old legend recently took to social media to express pride in his son Abhishek Bachchan following the release of the trailer for his upcoming film Kalidhar Laapata.
However, his post, which included photos of him greeting fans outside his residence Jalsa, also attracted a flurry of comments questioning his selective public praise. One user asked why he doesn't similarly appreciate his wife Jaya Bachchan or daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan online.
Big B on praising Jaya & Aishwarya
Bachchan didn’t shy away from addressing the question. Responding directly to the comment, he wrote, “Yes I shall praise them in my heart… not publicly… respect for the ladies.” The reply has since gone viral, with many lauding the veteran actor for his composed and respectful tone.
When another user accused him of using “paid fans,” Amitabh clapped back with sharp wit, replying, “Prove it! You are small-minded… why don’t you pay and get your fans too.”
“They Are Employed in Love”: Amitabh on Fans at Jalsa
The megastar also addressed a cynical remark about fans gathering outside his house, with someone suggesting they were “unemployed.” Bachchan responded, “So give them a job? When they stand at the fan meeting on the gate of Jalsa, they are EMPLOYED in love.”
His fan-first attitude continues to be a cornerstone of his public persona, and this latest interaction only reaffirmed that.
What's Next for the Bachchan Family
While Abhishek gears up for Kalidhar Laapata, his last appearance was in the comedy ensemble Housefull 5. Meanwhile, Jaya Bachchan was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starred in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan series.
Amitabh himself has a packed slate ahead. After Kalki 2898 AD, he’s also part of Vettaiyan with Rajinikanth and is rumoured to voice the legendary character Jatayu in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1, alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash.
Through it all, Amitabh Bachchan continues to engage with his audience in a manner few stars of his stature dare—unfiltered, personal, and always dignified.
