Rishabh Pant Scores 4th 100 In England: Rishabh Pant has now joined some of the greats of Indian cricket in the list of most centuries by an Indian on English soil. He is currently second on the list with four, equalling the number of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

The 1st India vs England Test match of the five-game Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is currently underway at Headingley in Leeds. Today is Day 4 of the match, and after losing almost all of their lead the previous day, the Indian Cricket Team has batted well and is heading towards a solid total once again.

After being put to bat first by the home team, the Men in Blue made 471 runs in the first inning. Three batters made centuries for India – those being Yashasvi Jaiswal, captain Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant. Pant specifically made 134 runs off 178 deliveries and had the best strike rate out of all the centurions for India.

Despite putting up such a massive total in the first inning, India only managed to keep a six-run lead after England batted and scored 465 runs. Ollie Pope was the only centurion for the Three Lions. Although Harry Brook scored 99 before getting out in heartbreaking fashion.

In the last session of Day 3, India came out to bat again. Jaiswal, who scored a ton in the first inning, got out cheaply. Then, debutant Sai Sudharsan made 30 runs before getting out as the team finished the day at 90/2. Early on Day 4, captain Gill departed for eight runs as the team’s score was now 92/3. At this point, Pant walked onto the crease.

Rishabh Pant, along with KL Rahul, formed the partnership that might have saved this match for India. While the two did bat together, they both took very different approaches. When Rishabh entered the field, KL was almost in his 40s. While Rahul looked to anchor the inning, save his wicket, and play defensively, Pant took to his natural game and played the way only he can, with his signature controlled chaos.

Both batters reached their 50s and then their 100s. By the time KL, who had been batting for over a session by the time Pant came on strike, reached his 100, the Indian wicketkeeper was already in his 90s.

However, at this point, Rishabh Pant took his time, did not look to slog the spinners introduced from both ends, and reached his 100 in a very unlike-Pant fashion, with a single.

But this ton is historic in many ways. Firstly, this is Rishabh’s fourth century on English soil. He scored his first Test ton at The Oval in 2018. His second in England came in the 2022 Test at Edgbaston. And with two hundred in this match, he has a count of four in England.

On the list of Indians with the most Test centuries in England, Pant is now second on the list alongside Sachin Tendulkar, who also has four. The two are behind Rahul Dravid on first with six. They are also ahead of the likes of Sourav Ganguly and Dilip Vengsarkar, who have three 100s each in the home of cricket.

Not only that, but Rishabh Pant has now become the first Indian Cricket Team batter to score two centuries in a Test match in England.

After cautiously reaching the milestone, Pant returned to his natural game, slogging Joe Root all over the park. He did get out soon after while still looking to attack, but the wicketkeeper/batter had already given his team a platform from where they could win the match, scoring 118 off 140 before getting out in the third inning of the 1st India vs England Test.
