A 16-year-old girl from Medchal district has been accused of murdering her mother, reportedly over a dispute related to her romantic relationship. According to the police, the Class 10 student conspired with her 19-year-old boyfriend, Pagilla Shiva, and his younger brother to carry out the crime.
The girl, upset over ongoing arguments with her mother Anjali (39), regarding her relationship with Shiva — whom she reportedly met on Instagram — allegedly led her to plot the murder, reported India Today. Investigators said that tensions had escalated between mother and daughter after Anjali objected to the relationship. The girl had previously left home to be with Shiva, prompting her mother to file a missing person complaint.
The fatal assault took place after the three suspects allegedly planned the attack. Police believe Anjali was strangled and hit with an iron rod, and one of the attackers may have used a knife during the assault. A post-mortem was conducted at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, while the teenage suspect is currently in custody and being questioned, as per a report on Deccan Chronicle.
Family members of the deceased revealed that Anjali was the great-granddaughter of Chakali Ilamma, a prominent Telangana freedom fighter and icon of the peasant struggle during the Nizam era.
The Medchal case follows closely on the heels of another alleged murder in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra's Raja Raguvanshi Case
In Kurnool district’s Panyam mandal, 32-year-old land surveyor Tejeshwar was found dead with multiple stab wounds and a slit throat. He had been missing since June 17 from Jogulamba Gadwal in Telangana.
Investigations have revealed that Tejeshwar’s wife of just one month, Aishwarya, her mother, and a third suspect — a bank employee currently on the run — are allegedly involved in the killing. Police suspect the trio lured Tejeshwar under false pretenses before carrying out the fatal attack.
