MP Monsoon Update: There is a danger of heavy rain and stormy winds in many districts of Madhya Pradesh today, Meteorological Department has issued an alert

MP Monsoon Update:  The weather has completely changed due to the activity of monsoon in Madhya Pradesh. On one hand, the rain in most parts of the state for the last few days has given relief from the heat, on the other hand, strong winds, storms and waterlogging in many districts have increased the problems of the people. On June 25 also, the weather is expected to remain unstable with thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds in most of the districts of the state.

Current status of last 24 hours

On June 24, most districts of Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Shahdol, Sagar, Gwalior and Narmadapuram divisions recorded moderate to heavy rains. Many areas including Karahal (122.6 mm), Kolaras (115.0 mm), Sheopur (94.2 mm), Baroda, Bilaspur and Chhindwara received heavy rains.

Also, strong winds blew at a speed of 46 km/h in Shivpuri, 41 km/h in Harda and 30-33 km/h in other districts including Guna, Sehore, Ashoknagar. Talking about temperature, the minimum temperature of Pachmarhi was 14.8°C and the maximum temperature of Sidhi was 33°C. 

Which districts are on alert today?

On June 25, heavy rain, thunderstorm and storm will continue in most districts of Madhya Pradesh. Very heavy rain is expected in Sheopurkalan, while heavy rain warning has been issued in Shivpuri, Niwari, Umaria, Jabalpur, Chhindwara, Balaghat, Mandla and Dindori districts. There is a danger of strong winds and thunderstorms at the speed of 30-40 km/h in Rajgarh, Shajapur, Ashoknagar, Balaghat, Pandhurna and Shivpuri.

Apart from this, there is a possibility of rain with thunder and strong winds in Bhopal, Indore, Ratlam, Dhar, Guna, Sehore, Vidisha, Narsinghpur, Mandla, Katni, Damoh, Sagar and Panna districts.

How will the weather be on 26 and 27 June?

The rain will continue in most districts on June 26 as well. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in districts like Jabalpur, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Umaria, Dindori and Katni. On June 27, a warning of rain and thunderstorm has been issued in Bhopal, Rewa, Sagar, Shahdol and Gwalior divisions. There will be a possibility of light to moderate rain with strong winds in the eastern and south-western districts.

How far has the monsoon reached?

The northern boundary of the monsoon has currently reached Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir via Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh. Monsoon activities are spreading rapidly in Madhya Pradesh due to the trough line and upper atmospheric cyclone coming from the Bay of Bengal and Jharkhand. Monsoon has become active in almost all parts of the state and its effect will remain strong for the next 3-4 days.

The Meteorological Department has warned people that visibility may decrease due to heavy rains, which may disrupt road and air traffic. There is a possibility of waterlogging in low-lying areas of many cities, which may increase the risk of traffic jams and diseases. Trees, electric poles and temporary structures may fall due to strong winds.

The weather department has advised people to avoid working in the open, not to stand under trees or electric poles, and to stay safe in their homes. Farmers have also been advised not to spray fertilizers or pesticides during the rainy season and to keep the sown crops covered with straw or shed.
