New Delhi: India had a frustrating last day in the first Test when Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett comfortably chased down a huge target of 371 in a record-breaking stand of 238 to leave Shubman Gill side languishing on the verge of defeat despite five Indian batters recording centuries previously in the game. Ben Duckett made a fluent century on only 121 balls the first century in the fourth innings of a Test match by an England opener since Alastair Cook made 109 not out against Bangladesh in Mirpur in 2010. There were not too many opportunities but there was one in the 39 th over when Duckett top-edged a short ball by Mohmmad Siraj yet Duckett got away with it thanks to a well-judged drop by Yashasvi Jaiswal who charged in deep backward square leg. England now has 190 more runs to win with Ben Duckett (105 not-out) and Zak Crawley (59 not-out) having dug a firm platform against a weakening Indian bowling attack.
