Actress Disha Vakani who became a household name with her iconic role as Dayaben in Sony SAB TV’s popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is now completely away from the limelight. There was a time when she was in the headlines almost every day. Disha joined the show when it first aired in 2008 and in a short time her character of Daya Bhabhi became beloved in every household. After portraying the role for nearly nine years she eventually said goodbye to the show. Disha Vakani is now busy with her personal life. She went on maternity leave in 2017 and since then she has not returned to the show. She has two children (a daughter and a son) whose upbringing takes up all her time. Why did Disha Vakani leave Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah? Disha Vakani married Mumbai-based chartered accountant Mayur Padia in 2015. Mayur Padia has nothing to do with the acting and film-TV industry and he likes to stay away from the camera in his personal life. On 27 November 2017 the couple became parents to a baby girl and in May 2022 they welcomed a boy. Disha wanted to return to the show but she had some conditions of her own. But the shows producer Asit Kumarr Modi refused to accept them. He said that the rules that apply to others will apply to her as well. She will not get any special treatment. There were several discussions that she would return to the show but now it seems unlikely that she will return. She is living a happy life with her family. Fans miss her a lot in this show. People loved Disha Wakanis acting and her way of speaking. Her pairing with Jethalal i.e. actor Dilip Joshi in the show was loved by the people. Asit Modi on Disha Vakanis return in TMKOC In an interview the producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Asit Modi also revealed whether Disha Vakani will reprise her role or not. Speaking to Screen Modi said People have been eagerly waiting for Daya Bhabhi and I will finalise her soon. People say that without Dayaben they don’t enjoy the show as much and I agree. We as a team are trying to fill Daya Bhabhi’s absence as much as we can. But she will return soon. Asit said that Disha is like his sister and would want to see her coming back as Dayaben. He continued We can only pray that Disha Vakani returns as the character. She is like my sister and she has some family duties to fulfill which is why it might be difficult for her to return. We miss her even today. She was very sincere and caring towards her co-stars and the team. We hope to find someone just like that.
