Netflix’s upcoming romantic drama Aap Jaisa Koi, starring R. Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh, offers a refreshing take on love that isn’t built on grand gestures or cinematic fireworks, but rather on quiet vulnerability and emotional equality. The recently released trailer introduces viewers to a slow-burn romance that prioritizes understanding, patience, and authenticity over melodrama.
A Story Rooted in Real Emotions
R. Madhavan plays Shrirenu Tripathi, a 42-year-old introvert living a life of routine and quiet longing. His world changes when he meets Madhu Bose, portrayed by Fatima Sana Shaikh a confident, self-assured woman who exudes strength with grace. Set between Jamshedpur and Kolkata, their journey unfolds not with drama but with small, meaningful moments that reflect “barabari wala pyaar” a love grounded in equality.
Madhavan describes Shrirenu as “one of the most complex characters” he has portrayed. “It’s quiet, awkward, and deeply human,” he said. “It speaks to all the people who’ve felt overlooked in life or love.” Fatima echoed similar sentiments, calling Madhu “a woman of strength and softness.” She added, “This film was oddly therapeutic for me. It explores love in all its nuanced shades.”
