The newest ICC Test rankings have brought a notable shake-up to the global cricket scene, following a week of exceptional performances in both the Test and T20I formats. India’s Rishabh Pant and England’s Ben Duckett have emerged as the biggest gainers, achieving career-high positions after stellar efforts in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.

Pant, in particular, has made history by leaping into seventh place among Test batters, thanks to his extraordinary twin centuries — 134 and 118. He’s now only the second wicketkeeper in Test history, after Andy Flower in 2001, to notch centuries in both innings of a match. He also becomes the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter to cross the 800-rating points milestone in Test history.

At the top of the Test rankings, Joe Root continues to hold the No. 1 position, with Harry Brook maintaining his place at No. 2. India’s Test captain Shubman Gill has also made gains, climbing five places to 20th after scoring a graceful century in the first innings.

In the T20I arena, the tri-series in Glasgow—featuring Nepal, Scotland, and the Netherlands—triggered a series of movements. Dutch batter Michael Levitt rose 16 spots to 14th following a streak of strong performances, while Scotland’s Brandon McMullen impressed with his efforts, moving up 20 places to joint 38th.
