New Delhi. On the 50th anniversary of the Emergency in the country on 25 June 1975, PM Narendra Modi, BJP President JP Nadda, Amit Shah and other leaders targeted the Congress. Recalling the days of Emergency, he said that today, one of the most dark chapters in India’s democratic history has completed fifty years of implementation. This was the time when the then Congress government took Lakstantra hostage.

BJP President JP Nadda said that, at midnight of June 25, 1975, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi imposed an emergency on India by making an excuse for ‘internal unrest’ and killed the constitution of the country. Even after 50 years, the Congress is running with the same mentality, its intention is still dictatorial.
In 1975, the court convicted Indira Gandhi for violating the code of conduct in the election and disqualified her for being in any elected position for 6 years. The power of the press was cut overnight, all the opposition was put in jail, freedom was taken away from the press, the democracy was crushed by misusing Article 352. Parliament, the judiciary was crippled and the Congress’s dictatorship government imposed an emergency on the country on the morning of 26 June. The condition of law and order in the Congress ruled states is still the same, which was in the emergency- suppression of protest, religious appeasement and ego of power are openly visible.
At the same time, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote on social media X that, June 25, 1975 is the black day of Indian democracy. On this day, the Congress imposed an emergency on the country and did a vicious task of strangling the constitution, freedom of expression and civil rights.
