Navi Mumbai: The historic Mughal-era bridge located on the Ramamma No. 17 road connecting Nagothane Phata, ST Stand, and the Primary Health Center in Nagothane has been completely closed for traffic until further notice due to structural weakness and the risk of accidents. The closure order was issued by Raigad District Collector Kishan Jawale after receiving an official report from the Public Works Department (PWD), Mahad Division.
The PWD report highlighted that the bridge had become narrow and structurally compromised, posing a serious threat to commuters. In response, barricades and warning boards have been placed at both ends of the bridge to prevent access and ensure public safety, the statement said.
To minimize inconvenience to local residents and travelers, authorities have designated an alternative route: Varavathane–Ambegahr Phata–Reliance Chowk–Nagothane, which has been reviewed and approved by the Superintendent of Police, Raigad. Officials have confirmed that traffic can be managed smoothly along this diversion.
