Prayagraj: In a shocking but peaceful settlement, a man in Phulpur area of Prayagraj handed over his wife to her younger lover after learning about their ongoing relationship. The woman, a mother of two, left her husband and moved in with her boyfriend along with her two young daughters.

The incident took place in Amiliya village under Phulpur Kotwali. Chandrabhan Patel had been married to Aarti Patel, a woman from Motiha village, for around 12 years. They have two daughters, aged two and four.

Over the past few years, Aarti developed a close relationship with her neighbour, 21-year-old Karan Patel, who is nine years younger than her. Their bond gradually turned into a romantic affair, and they reportedly began meeting secretly and had been physically involved multiple times.

When Chandrabhan came to know about the affair, he tried to persuade his wife to stay for the sake of their children and reputation. However, Aarti was not ready to give up her relationship with Karan.

Eventually, in the presence of Aarti’s father and local witnesses, Chandrabhan gave his wife a legal divorce by filing an affidavit at the tehsil office on Thursday. He also agreed that Aarti could take both daughters with her and raise them. Karan accepted Aarti and the two children, and they left together.

Locals said this was not the first time Aarti ran away with a neighbour, but she had returned previously. This time, however, the separation was legal and mutual.
