FWICE, which represents the core workforce of India's film and television industry, expressed its unequivocal disapproval, citing Dosanjh's recent collaboration with Pakistani actress Hania Amir in "Sardaar Ji 3" as a direct affront to the federation's longstanding directive opposing any professional association with Pakistani nationals.
The statement issued reads, "This casting decision is in blatant violation of FWICE's official directive to boycott Diljit Dosanjh, which was issued after his unpatriotic act of working with a Pakistani actress, Ms. Hania Aamir, in the film Sardaar Ji 3. By choosing to collaborate with an artist who has so brazenly ignored the ongoing tensions and national sentiment, your production has directly undermined the stand taken by the Indian film industry in solidarity with the nation."
FWICE's statement further argued that "Border 2", a film designed to commemorate the bravery of Indian soldiers, cannot in good faith employ an individual perceived to have disregarded the sacrifices of those serving on the nation's frontlines.
"We hereby request you to immediately reconsider your casting decision, FWICE urges you to stand by the nation and the industry's collective stand. Let us reiterate for us, the nation comes first, and we expect the same unwavering commitment from every respected member of the film fraternity", the letter adds further.
Neither the producers nor Dosanjh have issued any official statement so far.
