Several parts of Kerala have been waterlogged after heavy rainfall earlier this week. One of the visuals, which surfaced from the Vazhachal area of the state, captured an elephant walking through the flooded Chalakudy river. The animal struggled to cross the watered space, reportedly for more than three hours. The now-viral footage showed the elephant braving the floods all alone.
The video opened to show the jumbo standing in the midst of the waters and trying its best to come out safely. It took tiny steps to walk past the flooded water body.

Despite its half body being submerged into the floodwater, the animal managed to escape safely after hours of struggle.
According to local media reports, the forest officials monitored the situation after spotting the animal in distress.
Fearing the tusker might get swept away, they ordered the dam authorities to reduce the water flow to an extent possible. This crucial move helped the elephant to navigate through the flooded river and reach the riverbank.
The rescue operation was led by officers Akhil and Rajesh Kumar, Onmanorama stated in a recent report.
As the visuals of the elephant's struggle surfaced on social media, netizens prayed that the animal was doing safe. They lauded the animal's sincere try and courage to make it to the shore, alongside praising the forest officials for their assistance.
