The Delhi government is taking a major step to strengthen health services by completing 11 unfinished hospitals through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. With an estimated investment of around ₹9,000 crore, these hospitals will soon become operational, creating around 42,000 new jobs for medical, paramedical, and administrative staff.
This move will not only provide better healthcare access across the city but also reduce the burden on Delhi’s large existing hospitals, improving patient care.

Background & ProcessThe construction work on these hospitals began in 2020-21 but was stalled due to budget constraints. Originally estimated at ₹2,663 crore, the cost has now escalated to ₹3,947 crore. To overcome funding hurdles, the government decided to use the PPP model for construction, operation, and maintenance.
To ensure smooth progress, a transaction advisor will soon be appointed by the health department to provide technical, financial, and legal guidance. A dedicated project management unit will also be formed within the department to oversee the work.
The final approval will be made in the upcoming cabinet meeting.

-
Creation of thousands of new jobs in the healthcare sector.
-
Improved healthcare infrastructure with state-of-the-art multi-specialty and ICU hospitals.
