New Delhi: Although the suspense over Jasprit Bumrah’s participation in the second Test match against England remains but some clarity has been achieved regarding the same. With Bumrah to participate in just three matches out of the total five, question remains hanging whether the ace seamer will play the Edgbaston Test or not.

After India’s five-wicket loss against the hosts in the opening Test at Leeds, head coach Gautam Gambhir said that nothing will change with respect to the plans for the ace Indian pacer who can’t afford to take to the field in more games due to workload management. With just over 4 days remaining for the second Test match beginning from July 1, number of speculations are being made regarding the fast bowlers participation.

Bumrah sits out of training session

However, a report published in The Times of India has offered some clarity regarding Bumrah featuring in the second Test. As India started the training for the Test match on Friday, Bumrah, despite being present at the venue, did not participate in the training session and chose to sit out. The report mentions that Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna were the only two players to have missed the first training session of the Indian team.

Rest of the team participated as usual with fast bowler Mohammed Siraj paying some attention to his batting skills as well, mentions the report. It was further learnt that head coach Gambhir was seen involved in some deep conversations with Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep as both the players are being considered as potential replacements for the ace pacer if he sits out of the second game.

India would want to bounce back and restore parity in the series with a win in the Test match. A loss will derail India’s campaign in the series on a serious note.
