Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Germany — Spain produced a dazzling display of attacking football to dismantle Switzerland 3-0, booking their place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2025 with a performance that sends a clear warning to their tournament rivals.

From the first whistle, Luis de la Fuente’s side played with an intensity and flair that left the Swiss chasing shadows. The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute through the electrifying Lamine Yamal. The teenage sensation, who has been a revelation this tournament, cut in from the right wing, jinked past two defenders, and curled an unstoppable left-footed shot into the far corner, leaving Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer rooted to the spot.

Spain’s midfield trio of Rodri, Pedri, and Fabián Ruiz orchestrated the game with mesmerizing control, their fluid passing and constant movement proving too much for Switzerland to handle. The pressure was relentless, and it paid off again just before halftime. A clever through ball from Pedri found Álvaro Morata, who clinically slotted the ball past an onrushing Sommer to double the lead.

Switzerland came out in the second half with more fight, attempting to disrupt Spain’s rhythm, but the Spanish defense, marshaled by the composed Aymeric Laporte, gave them no room to operate.

The contest was effectively over in the 68th minute when Spain added a third. A beautifully worked team goal saw nearly every Spanish player touch the ball before substitute Mikel Oyarzabal tapped in from close range after a pinpoint cross from Nico Williams.

For Switzerland, it was a disappointing end to a solid tournament run. They were simply outclassed by a Spanish team that appears to be peaking at the perfect time. With their blend of youthful exuberance and veteran experience, Spain has firmly established itself as a leading contender to lift the trophy.
