According to Bhopal Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the state government is doing all it can to promote the state’s tribal art and artists, who have gained acclaim both domestically and abroad.

The Chief Minister went into more detail on traditional arts and traditions on Friday, saying that the creativity and skills of tribal artists are admirable and that their precise workmanship has shown their abilities to the globe.

He spoke these things during the opening ceremony of the three-day state-level “Aadi Shilpgram Mahotsav” held at Ravindra Bhavan in Bhopal.

There will be captivating tribal dance and music performances at the ‘Aadi Shilpgram Mahotsav’ every evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ravindra Bhavan.

Along with traditional tribal foods, the celebration features displays of tribal crafts in clay, bamboo, wood, metal, and painting.

In his remarks to the group of tribal artists present on this particular occasion, Chief Minister Yadav highlighted that, in keeping with the government’s aim of “from heritage to development,” efforts are being made to conserve old art, culture, customs, and the artists’ work.

He pointed out that paintings created by the Gond (tribe people) had just been granted a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, signifying the art form’s and its creators’ international recognition.

“The Madhya Pradesh government, in coordination with the Central government, is creating proper platforms through various events to provide opportunities and markets for all forms of tribal craftsmanship and artists,” he said.

The repair of the historic fort at Mandla, which represents the bravery and selflessness of tribal leaders like Raja Shankar Shah, Kunwar Raghunath Shah, and Raja Hriday Shah, would cost Rs 15 crore, the Chief Minister also revealed.

He also emphasised how important national institutions have been named in memory of tribal heroes, such as Tantya Mama University in Khargone and the renaming of the main railway station in Bhopal after Rani Kamlapati.

In order to provide tribal artists and their goods access to markets, the Chief Minister further said that tribal marts would soon be established in regions that are controlled by tribes.

With a budget of Rs 1 crore apiece, these stores will first be established in Shahdol, Dhar, Khandwa, and Mandla.

They will provide local kids job opportunities and be run by women’s self-help organisations.
