25,000 spectators were present at Dharamshala Stadium
Around 25,000 spectators were present at the Dharamshala Stadium, which was completely unaware of the situation. The biggest challenge before Dhumal and administration was to ensure safe withdrawal of all spectators without any nervousness. He said that even after the announcement of the closure of flood lights, the audience did not want to leave from there as the Punjab team was batting exciting.
Official announcement to cancel
The match was stopped in the 11th over of Punjab's innings when the flood light suddenly stopped after the first ball. After waiting for some time, the players were sent to the pavilion and then an official announcement was made to cancel the match. After this, both teams were rushed to the hotel amidst tight security and then sent to Delhi by train in the evening.
BCCI assured
Dhumal said that to avoid a stampede -like situation, the local police and district administration showed excellent coordination and all the spectators were taken out without any accident. Soon after the incident, the BCCI called an emergency meeting and assessed the situation. On Friday morning, the BCCI reported the postponement of IPL indefinitely, but later issued a statement and clarified that the tournament has been postponed for just one week in view of the current India-Pakistan stressful situation. The BCCI has assured that a new program will be announced soon. Read Also: Pakistan tainted 2 missiles to shake Delhi in midnight, India killed dangerous ballistic in the air
