
Significant Drug Seizure in Odisha
Balasore: Authorities in Balasore district, Odisha, apprehended two individuals after seizing brown sugar valued at ₹22 lakh, as reported by police on Saturday.
Following a tip-off, law enforcement conducted a raid in the Aradbazar locality of Balasore town on Friday, where they confiscated 228 grams of brown sugar from the suspects, according to Balasore Superintendent of Police, Raj Prasad.
During questioning, the suspects confessed to being involved in the brown sugar trade and indicated that they sourced the narcotic from Murshidabad in West Bengal.
The seizure of the drugs occurred in the presence of an executive magistrate, and police also recovered ₹18,000 in unaccounted cash from the accused.
Both individuals have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985, and an investigation is currently ongoing, police confirmed.
