Thomas Müller spoke with Sky after his last appearance in Bayern’s home stadium.
“Football and the people made me happy. We managed to win the championship in our living room (Allianz Arena),” said Thomas Müller after Bayern’s final home game of the season. “We suffered last season. It’s painful when you work hard all season and end up empty-handed.
“75,000 hearts still beating for me today, I’m a little scared. I don’t think I can fully grasp that right now. That will come later.”
Müller will be expected to feature for Bayern Munich in this summer’s Club World Cup before separating with the club he spent his entire career. However, today’s game will go down as his last appearance at the Allianz Arena.
There were some interesting bits in the trophy celebration. Vincent Kompany gave Müller’s medal, while captain Manuel Neuer allowed the departing legend to lift the Meisterschale. The 13-time Bundesliga winner also addressed the fans via microphone.
