Sport Bild reports that Leon Goretzka has been informed that his contract with Bayern Munich will not be extended.
Last summer, Leon Goretzka was informed that he had no future at Bayern Munich, but he kept his head down and fought his way back into the team. Particularly in the second half of the season, the central midfielder has played a central role.
However, according to Sport Bild, Bayern’s stance on the midfielder remains unchanged: The 30-year-old’s contract, which runs until 2026, will not be extended.
As a result, Bayern may look to sell Goretzka this summer, although the challenge – at least from their perspective – is that the midfielder is determined to stay and fulfill his contract, according to Bild.
Goretzka joined Bayern from Schalke 04 on a free transfer in 2018. Since then, he has made 260 appearances for the Bavarians, scoring 45 goals and providing 48 assists.
He has earned 59 caps for Germany and made his return to the national setup in March, starting both UEFA Nations League quarter-finals against Italy.
