A report published in The Wall Street Journal says that by the end of this year, the company will hand it over to its developers. To bring this technology to reality, Apple has partnered with neurotechnology company Synchron. Both companies are working together on a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) system. With the help of BCI, the user can navigate and operate their device just by their thoughts. That is, the user will not need to write, swipe, or tap. He will just think like this in his mind, and the device will follow that command.

What is Brain-Computer Interface (BCI)?

BCI is a technology that can communicate between a person's brain and an external device. This does not require muscle movement. Synchron's BCI device, known as Stentrode, is inserted through the jugular vein and installed in the nerves near the motor cortex of the brain.

The most special thing about this technology is that people who have lost their voice after suffering a harsh event in life can interact with the world around them through BCI technology. Looking at its capabilities, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given Synchron's device the status of a breakthrough. However, it has not yet been made commercially available. The FDA believes that such innovations can make the lives of people with severe physical disabilities much easier.

Elon Musk's Neuralink
The brainwave-powered device control that Apple is developing, Elon Musk's Neuralink, also works similarly. Musk's brain-tech company, Neuralink, is working on such advanced implant devices that can communicate with paralyzed people based only on neural signals. To put it simply, these advanced devices will understand what is going on in human minds. For this, a chip will be implanted in the human brain. Recently, Neuralink has successfully implanted a brain in the third patient.
