The will face another major blow as is set to close two popular stores this summer. The frozen food supermarket will shut down its College Square branch in Margate on June 21, as well as the shop in Inverness city centre on July 12. The company has said employees in Margate would be redeployed elsewhere, where possible.
In the store, consumers had previously complained about the parking charges and fines, according to The Press and Journal, which have become a major battle for local high streets. Past reports have stated that parking charges are a significant factor in the death of the high street, with many shoppers claiming it puts them off driving into town. Iceland is yet to reveal why both the Margate and Inverness stores were chosen for closure.
An Iceland spokesperson said regarding the Margate store: "Our store colleagues have entered into a consultation process and have been offered opportunities at surrounding stores where possible."
On closing the Inverness branch, the supermarket said: "We can confirm our Iceland store located at Rose Street, Inverness, is scheduled to close on 12th July 2025.
"Our store colleagues will enter into a consultation process and will be offered opportunities at surrounding stores where possible.
"Shoppers can visit our local Food Warehouse store in Inverness located on Telford Street, IV3 5LU."
This follows the closure of their Derbion Shopping Centre branch, which later reopened nearby on London Road. Several other stores were also axed in recent months. This includes the Welling supermarket in London, Shenley Road, Borehamwood and Alphington Road Retail Park in Exeter.

Iceland had announced plans to expand earlier this year, with proposals for 20 Iceland and Food Warehouse stores by the end of April. Company bosses also said they had 500,000 square feet distribution centre in Warrington, valued at £100million, which would be "game changing".
The site, which opened in February, now supplies 350 Iceland stores in the north west of England, Wales and the Scottish borders.
