With summer already here, storing food without a refrigerator becomes increasingly challenging. While it may seem practical to buy certain affordable food items in bulk and stock your refrigerator, this often leads to food wastage, especially if the items aren’t used in time.
Additionally, refrigerating food for too long can reduce its nutritional value. Expiry dates exist for a reason—they help ensure that food is consumed safely within a specific timeframe.
However, there are some foods that don’t require an expiry date at all. These items have an extremely long or even indefinite shelf life, making them perfect for stocking up during emergencies or whenever needed.

# White Raw Rice
White rice is a prime example of a long-lasting food item. When stored in oxygen-free containers at temperatures below 40°F (4°C), it can last up to 30 years. So, having extra white rice at home is never a bad idea.

# Powdered Milk
Also known as dried milk, this dairy product is made by evaporating regular milk. It doesn’t need refrigeration and lasts significantly longer than liquid milk.

# Dried Beans
Beans such as kidney beans, peas, and soybeans have a naturally long shelf life. Once cooked, they can be stored and added to various dishes like salads and stews, making them both versatile and durable.

# Soy Sauce
Commonly used in Chinese and Asian cuisines, soy sauce has a strong, savory flavor. While refrigeration can extend its shelf life, soy sauce can last for years even without it.
# Maple Syrup
Organic maple syrup naturally resists mildew growth, giving it a long shelf life. If you're unsure about using an older bottle, simply boil it and skim off any surface mildew before use.
# Honey
Honey is nature’s most durable food. Thanks to its low moisture content and natural processing by bees, it doesn’t spoil—making it one of the few foods that can truly last forever.
# Sugar
Sugar doesn’t support bacterial growth, so it won’t spoil. However, it can harden if exposed to moisture. To keep it fresh, store sugar in an airtight container.

# Vinegar
Used as a preservative for foods like pickles and eggs, vinegar can also preserve itself. It remains usable for years without any concern about expiration.

# Dried Pasta
Dried pasta contains very little moisture and can last for months when stored in a cool, dry place inside an airtight container. Just boil it when you're ready to eat.
# Vanilla Extract
Used mainly in desserts, vanilla extract also enhances the flavor of marinades and sauces. When stored properly, it not only lasts long but also develops a deeper flavor over time.
